If any of you happened to watch yesterday’s video, then you may remember us talking about Mazie, the lady who baked all the cinnamon rolls for us. Let me say that this world needs a lot more people like her.
Years ago, Mazie saw a need in her community for a pool that all the kids could go to in the summertime, and if my memory serves me correctly, she saved aluminum cans for 10 years in order to fund this project. Everyone in her community, and in surrounding towns heard of her project, and starting saving their cans, also. She told us of how everyone would leave bags of cans on their mailbox posts, and she would drive around, collecting bag after bag. After doing this for several years, Mazie was finally able to purchase the pool for her community. We drove by it, and it is beautiful. Even still, her local government will not support what she is doing, so she continues to collect cans to fund the chemicals and maintenance. Mazie is 88 years old. What a great soul! Just thought that maybe you would like to hear a bit about the kind of people that we are meeting out here. What an amazing adventure!
